Botswana
At the end of May 2023, I joined Natures Images on a safari trip to one of the most famous wildlife areas of Africa - the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
This inland delta is formed by heavy annual rains falling to the north in Angola filling the Okavango River which then flows southwards. All this water never reaches the coast; instead forming an inland wetland of marsh, reed beds, pools and lagoons – before evaporating during the next few months only to be refilled the next wet season.
The word “safari” actually means journey or expedition. Our time was spent in a number of locations with our temporary camp being built, dismantled then moved to a new site every three or four days.
